Dance and Wellbeing
For me, dance is so much more than movement. It provides a unique space where structure and freedom come together — a place to express ourselves, build strength, challenge our boundaries, and grow in confidence.
Dance has the power to create connection and community. It can become a home away from home; a place where people feel seen, supported and a sense of belonging, particularly during times of uncertainty or change. Through shared experiences and a common purpose, dance can build lasting relationships and provide a strong sense of identity and hope.
As a dancer and teacher, I have experienced first-hand the positive impact dance can have on wellbeing. It has taught me resilience, discipline, courage and confidence, whilst giving me the freedom to be myself and a space to find sanctuary when I need it.
The relationships and community I have found through dance have become a support system — a network of friends, colleagues and people who feel like family, there through the different challenges and chapters of life.
This is what dance has become for me: a source of strength, connection and belonging. It is also what I hope to create for others — a safe, supportive environment where people can move, grow, connect and simply be themselves.
